Hope you are OK and keeping warm. Struggling with internet at present. Long flight, I was getting fed up on 2nd flight although it was shorter than first. Somewhere along the line I have missed out on three meals but I guess I will survive.

You wouldn’t enjoy it here. It’s hot and sticky, the air is suffused with exotic smells, just as you would encounter at home if you stuck your head down a drain.

A storm is coming over at the moment so that should dampen things down a bit.Today surprisingly I slept in until 11am.I would have expected the reverse. This afternoon I took a number 48 bus across this huge city to Wat Photo a fantastic temple complex with a huge Golden Buddha – it reminded me of someone.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, I have to go to Myanmar Embassy and also check out hospital for the Japanese Encephalitis injection.

A Borrowed Blog

Technically, this blog will not belong to me (mine can be found here). I’ve created it in order to share messages from my dad, who is currently about as far from home as it’s possible to be.

My dad, Michael, Mike, turned 64 this month. He spent it in Bangkok, fresh from the plane and a stopover in Dubai. He’s off on his travels for around three months, and as usual, will most definitely be straying as far from the beaten track as he can. Prior to his trip, I suggested blogging  as means of keeping in touch, but it was one unchartered territory he was apprehensive to explore. He does, however, email, and fairly regularly to date. This blog will share his emails, with small edits to ensure they are appropriate to a wider audience.
